I enjoyed talking with Dr. Maria Sampalis of Corporate Optometry about improving your eye care website to attract more patients.
We discuss the following in the interview (you can check out the full video below):
- The Foundation: Start with identifying your Ideal Patients – there’s a lot more to it than just identifying their demographics.
- Audit your website for problem areas that, by fixing them, can increase patient conversions
- Make sure to list your website on Google My Business and optimize it for your best keyword phrases (including buyers’ search intent keywords).
- Make sure to get as many 5-star Google reviews as possible.
- Optimize your website with buyers’ search-intent keyword phrases and write blog posts to address your ideal patients’ problems and pain points to set yourself apart from your competition.
- Add your practice’s local address to the footer on every page of your website, as well as on all of your social media platforms. Make sure the address is consistent with the Google My Business listing.
- Check the speed of your website and do whatever you can to achieve fast loading speeds. Have your website designer make changes to your site to get it to load quickly. Here is a quick tool to tell how fast your site loads (you want to aim for no more than 1-2 seconds per page!), along with suggestions on what you or your web designer can do to help it load faster.
- You also want to make sure your mobile-friendly version loads quickly and is actually optimized for the mobile experience. You can check to see if your website even has a mobile version here.
- Have someone you trust (trust to be honest!) take a look at your site and have them evaluate the following:
- How is the user experience? Is it easy to navigate your site and find what they want?
- Is your messaging clear about you, your practice, what services and products you provide, etc?
- Don’t be afraid to survey your current patients to get more information. What do they think about you?
- Make sure your branding is in alignment at all touch-points of the practice: the front desk, the pre-testing, the exam, the optical, and upon check-out.
Other Tips
- Record a blog post on your phone recorder or even create a video post (if you don’t mind getting in front of the camera) that you can hand off to either a staff member or a freelancer to perform the rest of the process (editing, posting to your blog, posting to your social media, etc.).
- Be consistent with your postings. It doesn’t have to take a lot of time – consistency is more important than quantity.
- Include as much information as possible about a topic in your blog posts so that you can outrank your competition on the same topic.
- Make sure your blog posts are shareable – using plugins for WordPress is a great way to make this happen.
- Embed your YouTube videos into your blog posts, just like I did below!
- Videos are the fastest way to get your prospects to know, like, and trust you, which will lead to more patients.
LOL, I MUST stop nodding my head so much! Dr. Sampalis just had such wonderful points, I couldn’t stop agreeing…!
