Is this topic taboo for our industry?

I came across this fabulous article that our colleague Mike Rothschild of Leadership OD wrote for Review of Optometric Business back in April at the onset of the pandemic, and has recently updated it to make it relevant…
“Telemedicine: 7 Steps to Implement It in Your Practice”
Mike gives some quick tips on getting started with telemedicine, how to bill for it, writing a script to use during the visit, and he even gives an example of a reminder email to send to your patients…
We can no longer believe our profession is not best suited for providing virtual care. Of course, it’s true there are certain aspects of a comprehensive eye exam that can not (at least yet!) be replaced by telemedicine. But, as primary eye care providers, it is incumbent upon us to provide all possible levels of care to our patients, especially when they are unable to visit our practices.
It is simply no longer an option to sit by while our colleagues inherit our home-bound patients!
