Will making it “official” validate what we already do in our practices?
It’s a controversial topic…
But it reveals, as mentioned in my last post, the importance of adding specialties to compete in today’s marketplace.
You’ll see me write a fair amount of posts and articles on the importance of incorporating (and marketing) specialties or, as this article points out, “subspecialties” into your eye care practice.
Dr. David Heath, president of the SUNY College of Optometry and co-chair of the Task Force on Subspecialization (TFSS), believes it’s essential to formalize the subspecialization of specialty products and services with guidelines, a specific designation, and more uniform nomenclature.
Others may disagree…
Whatever stance you take on this, it should be a given that we must establish the necessity of incorporating specialties or subspecialties into your practice to grow as an industry, increase relevance for your current and potential patients, and not get left behind by your competitors who’ve adopted this necessity.
